Lovely Sorrow

by Han M Greenbarg

She wished for his heart

His tall strong form

She craved his gaze

His sharp brown eyes

Oh her lovely sorrow

She dreamed of his courage

His voice in her ear

She missed his playful jesting

His warrior poet’s soul

Oh her lovely sorrow

She envied his following

His boldness for the truth

She wept long in secret

His affections disappeared

Oh her lovely sorrow

Longing every year
