Feelings Of December

by Han M Greenbarg

Snow falls where it may

Carolers at the doorstep

Old-fashioned ornaments on the tree

Shopping for toys

Silver and gold bells and strings

Loved ones come together

Through a child’s eyes

Magic in every light

Neighborhoods decorated

Sharing cheer

Traditions kept sacred

A time of peace

And loving

Some forget the joy

Pain of the past

Those we must give hope

For in the cold

And long dark nights

And crowded stores

There can be true happiness

A sense of belonging

The month that is celebrated

And advertised

Is more than a word

More than a time to buy

It is for all of us

To remember tradition and songs

To remember why we have hope

To remember why we dream

Remember childhood

Become kids at heart

And come home
